Jeff's Fat Bike Fishing unlocks remote South African coastline — pedaling to tide-carved rock marks and hidden surf breaks where king mackerel hunt, combining adventure and angling in one of Africa's wildest fishing zones.

At a Glance
Jeff has spent 25 years guiding anglers across the St. Lucia and Cape Vidal coastlines of KwaZulu-Natal, developing an intimate knowledge of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park's tidal rhythms and fish movements. His signature approach combines fat bikes with rock and surf fishing, spinning, and fly fishing to reach remote marks up to 20km north of Cape Vidal that are otherwise inaccessible on foot. He specializes in king mackerel and adapts his tactics seasonally, fishing year-round but timing trips to maximize tidal windows and seasonal conditions.

Methods
My guiding year is dictated by the tides and the seasons here in St. Lucia and Cape Vidal. We fish year-round, but the experience shifts with the conditions. The summer months, particularly when the tides align for a Cape Vidal trip from 9 am to 1 pm, offer fantastic opportunities to explore up to 20km north of the Vidal area. Winter also brings excellent fishing, with slightly later start times for Cape Vidal trips. My approach is always to adapt to the best tidal windows, ensuring clients access remote spots that are otherwise unreachable. Whether you're keen on rock and surf, spinning, or fly fishing, the fat bikes allow us to cover more ground and find the fish.
