Scott operates Lost River Outfitters from Ketchum, Idaho, with deep expertise across the region's signature waters: the Big Lost River, Big Wood River, Silver Creek, and Mackay Reservoir. His year-round guiding practice follows the seasonal pulse of central Idaho—spring midge hatches on Silver Creek, summer stonefly and caddis action on the freestone rivers, fall blue-winged olive and brown trout streamer fishing, and winter tailwater dry-fly work. He guides with both drift boats and jet boats, accommodating wade fishing and high-mountain lake access, and has built a reputation for technical instruction and reading seasonal hatches across multiple water types.

My guiding year is a dance with the seasons, each bringing its own unique opportunities on the pristine waters of the Big Lost and Big Wood Rivers. Spring often starts with the lingering magic of winter midge hatches on Silver Creek, offering a serene start to the year. As the snowmelt subsides, typically by late May or early June, the freestone rivers like the Big Wood and the Big Lost begin to come alive. Summer is prime time, with abundant hatches of stoneflies, caddis, and PMDs on the Big Lost, and the iconic brown drakes and terrestrials on Silver Creek. The high mountain lakes also become accessible, offering a different kind of adventure. Fall is spectacular, with the changing colors of the aspens mirroring the vibrant fishing. Blue-winged olives and mahogany duns create consistent dry-fly action, and the pre-spawn brown trout begin their move, offering excellent streamer and egg-pattern fishing. Winter fishing on the tailwaters and spring creeks provides a peaceful, uncrowded experience, with midges and baetis hatches keeping the trout active even in the cold.
