Pulaski, a small village in Oswego County on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, has become synonymous with Great Lakes steelhead and Pacific salmon fishing. Access is straightforward, with public parking and walkable banks throughout town, and the Salmon River Reservoir upstream offers a different fishery for those seeking quieter water. The gauge to watch is the USGS station at Pulaski; flows above 1,500 cfs can make wading treacherous, while 600–1,200 cfs is ideal for most techniques. Pulaski's compact size and walkable layout make it easy to base a trip here, and the combination of fall salmon runs and spring steelhead means the town draws serious anglers twice a year.
