Glen Cove occupies a strategic pocket on Long Island's North Shore, where Hempstead Harbor opens into Long Island Sound. The town's sheltered coves and nearby shallow flats create a natural staging ground for seasonal migrations of striped bass and bluefish moving through the Sound, while summer fluke populations hold in the sandy bottom areas just offshore.
