Fishing methods and approaches

The fishing year at Olderø Lodge is dictated by the powerful Atlantic Salmon runs on the Lakselv River. The season kicks off on June 15th and runs through August 31st for salmon, with sea trout fishing extending slightly longer, until September 15th. Early season, from mid-June into July, is prime time for the larger salmon, with fish typically ranging between 40 and 50 lbs, and the river is known to produce specimens exceeding the 60 lb mark. As the season progresses into August, the grilse runs begin, offering a different, yet equally exciting, fishing experience. The lodge operates on a strict catch-and-release policy for 99% of the fish, ensuring the health of this magnificent fishery for years to come. Anglers can expect a mix of two-handed fly fishing in the midnight sun, with ample private water across 10 beats, ensuring a peaceful and productive experience.
