My guiding year on the pristine waters around Jackson Hole, Wyoming, follows the rhythm of the seasons and the incredible hatches that fuel our trout populations. From early spring through late fall, the Snake River and its tributaries offer a diverse and rewarding experience. The season kicks off in March, with waters beginning to clear and trout becoming more active as temperatures rise. As spring progresses into summer, the rivers come alive with prolific hatches, providing excellent opportunities for dry-fly fishing. This period, from late spring through summer and into early fall, is prime time for targeting large brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout across various sections of the Snake, Green, New Fork, and Salt Rivers, as well as the famed waters of Yellowstone National Park.\n\nLate summer and early fall bring a different kind of magic. The hatches may shift, but the trout remain aggressive, especially as they prepare for the colder months. This is a fantastic time for targeting larger fish, with hopper-dropper rigs and streamer fishing often producing spectacular results. Even as the temperatures drop, the fishing remains viable, particularly on the more protected waters, offering a chance to catch trout in the crisp autumn air. My operation runs from March through November, ensuring that clients can experience the best of what these world-class waters have to offer throughout the prime season.
