Guided by the people who own the water

The guide program is the heart of the house: one guide for every two anglers, and a weekly rotation that has every guest fishing with every guide — Kate and Justin included, who take their turns on the oars and their seats at the dinner table every night. The team's tenure on Bristol Bay runs to decades, across every species, method, and water the region fishes.

The main lodge sits high over the Naknek — a bright, modern take on the Alaskan lodge, with an open floor plan running lounge to fireplace to full-service bar, meals served at a hand-built table beside the open kitchen, and picture windows that turn the river's wildlife into the evening's entertainment. Guest cabins are scattered below: fully renovated, double-occupancy retreats with separate sleeping areas, private baths, riverfront windows, and a personal coffee setup for the first light on the water.

The table is a program of its own. Two chefs cook from an open kitchen: breakfast to order, field lunches packed with homemade bread baked daily and greens from the lodge's own greenhouses, appetizers on return, and dinners built on Naknek-mouth salmon, Mat-Su Valley meats, and the garden's harvest. Wine, spirits, and beer on tap are included; dietary needs are handled without ceremony.

Gear & Fleet

A floatplane on the dock, boats on the home water

The fleet is the lodge's range. A de Havilland Beaver waits on floats at the dock for the day's fly-outs — Katmai, the Nushagak, the Kvichak, the Alagnak, twenty to sixty minutes of untouched country by air — with partner aircraft called in for the farthest water. On the Naknek itself, jet boats cover the home river, including special-permit water on lower American Creek that few operations can touch.

Permitting

The paperwork, mostly handled

The lodge's permits do the heavy lifting: National Park Service and Wildlife Refuge fees, private land-use fees, and borough taxes are all included in your package — along with the special-use permit that opens lower American Creek by jetboat. What you carry is simple: an Alaska (ADF&G) fishing license, plus a king stamp if you'll fish for kings — both purchased before your trip, and the lodge team will point you to the right ones.
