My guiding year is dictated by the rhythms of the Boise and Owyhee Rivers, offering distinct experiences throughout the seasons. The Boise River, a true urban gem, provides year-round opportunities for trout and whitefish, making it accessible and productive no matter when you visit. Spring brings higher flows and active fish, while summer offers consistent action. Fall can be spectacular with changing colors and aggressive fish, and even winter offers a unique, tranquil experience for those seeking solitude. The Owyhee River, a remote desert tailwater, is renowned for its trophy brown trout. My focus there is from early Spring through Fall, capitalizing on epic dry fly hatches and technical nymphing opportunities in a stunning canyon setting. While fishing is open year-round on the Owyhee, my guided trips concentrate on the prime months from March through September, when conditions are optimal for chasing those trophy browns.
