My guiding year on the South Fork of the Snake River is a dynamic dance with the seasons, beginning in April as the waters begin to recede and the first hatches stir. Spring offers a chance to chase trout with streamers and nymphs as the river awakens. As summer arrives, the legendary dry fly fishing takes center stage, with hatches of PMDs, Skwalas, and other insects bringing trout to the surface throughout June, July, and August. This is prime time for sight-casting to rising fish in the stunning canyon scenery. Fall ushers in a different kind of magic; the crowds thin, the leaves turn, and the trout, particularly the large browns and cutthroats, become more aggressive, making it an ideal period for streamer fishing and chasing trophy-sized fish. We also offer overnight camp trips on the South Fork, providing an immersive experience from early June through mid-October.
